The 2016 La Petite Mort Barrel Fermented Marsanne shows a swathe of ripe melon, crisp peach and waxy texture with a solid backbone of steely acid and minerality with cedary French oak backing it all up.
The juice from the 2016 harvest had such a fantastic weight of fruit that we thought it might warrant fermentation in oak (oak and fruit are factors that must be balanced against one another). Turns out, it did!
Unusual, confronting and a little left of the middle.
La Petite Mort (LPM) is the home of our 'other' wines. These small batch, experimental wines are produced with minimal wine making intervention and put into bottle without filtering or fining to allow the raw essence of our experimentation to shine through. Rustic and characterful, LPM wines promise a unique sensory experience and a story behind every label.
